Funny Commercial

My mother in law told me about this commercial and it just cracks me up so I had to share it with you. Having a big ol' belly does make things a little more challenging and fun. Here are some of my watermelon moments:
  • Picking things up off the floor is always a good time since it includes a good wide stance workout squat.
  • Getting ready in front of the mirror puts me now a good foot further back than normal, this is challenging especially for up close activities like plucking my eyebrows and flossing my teeth.
  • Sometimes trying to get up off the couch from a laying down position requires going to the floor first on all fours then pushing myself up with the aid of the coffee table.
  • The tummy provides a great shelf for eating snacks on the couch while watching t.v., or a folding table for little baby clothes. My shirt is also a giant napkin for when I eat catching all those spills and crumbs! Thank you Oxiclean!
  • A good workout includes putting on pants, socks, climbing stairs, or switching sleeping positions!
These are the joyful experiences that I absolutely love every minute of and wouldn't trade for anything! It's amazing to think my now big ol' watermelon baby was once a wee little apple seed.
What do you think, should I get Jesse a watermelon to test out his penguin waddle?

Doctors Appointment

Today was my 37 week doctors appointment. All continues to be good with Mom and baby. I gained 2 pounds this past week, for a total weight gain of 31 lbs. so far! My blood pressure was normal at 125/80. The doctor checked my belly measurements and little guy's heartbeat both of which were good. Three weeks running now I have had no sugar in my urine, woo hoo! I look forward to a big batch of brownies or a hot fudge sundae once we get home with the baby.  I go back March 4th for my 38 week appointment and to meet with one of the doctors in the practice I haven't seen yet, because we never know who will be on duty at the hospital on our big day!

Nesting!

Nesting is an emotional and biological instinct to have the urge to clean, tidy, and organize during pregnancy.  Boy do I have that! Jesse and I have been nesting like two little squirrels for the past month in preparation for baby! It all started when we had someone come in to clean the house for us as our Christmas present to each other. Since then we have gone through every room, cabinet, drawer, and closet to de-clutter, simplify, and organize. The local Salvation Army has received many trash bags full of goodies due to our cleaning efforts. I have even gone as far as buying bins and labeling them to keep things tidy. Family and friends have generously and graciously helped me in my nesting sprees as well by assisting in cleaning and organizing my walk-in-closet, freezer, and fridge. Now we're trying to stock up on meals. We cooked up some extra lasagnas and meatballs to freeze, and stocked the cabinets. Bit by bit we've been slowly checking things off the list, and I would say that we are officially ready to welcome baby to our Maynard nest!

Doctors Appointment

The little man has now made it to 36 weeks, and will be considered full term in one more week. Knowing he could come anytime in the next few weeks is very exciting! I didn't gain any more weight this week which is okay with me. Despite my sausage fingers, toes, and cankles my blood pressure is great 112/66 so there are no worries...it's all part of being 9 months preggy. Thank goodness for Uggs, they are my only footwear that currently fit! The baby's heart rate was good and strong. This week he's shedding most of his downy covering of hair as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that has been covering his skin for the past 8 months. He will swallow both of these substances and other secretions which will form his first dirty diaper!

Family Furniture

Not only does our little boy have a beautiful crib in his nursery but he also has two other special places to sleep as well.
This bassinet has been in the Snyder/Bisio family for almost 33 years. My brother Derek and I both slept in it as babies, as well as other cousins and family friends. My mom pulled it out of storage and cleaned it all up for us, and Aunt Janis and I added a little ribbon and cream colored bedding and taadah! This will stay downstairs in the house to keep our little one near us during daytime naps.
Jesse's Grandfather Bob Maynard crafted and built this beautiful and sturdy cradle about 13 years ago for the Maynard/Haskell families. We added baby blue and cream bedding and we've got a cozy bedside retreat for easy middle of the night snuggles and feedings.
Now all we need it the baby! He'll be here in 4 weeks at the most! =)

Doctors Appointment

Today Jesse and I went to my 35 week doctors appointment. We started with an ultrasound of the baby to see how big he is. Based upon his head, belly, and femur bone measurements he is estimated to be 6 lbs. 9 oz. This puts him in the 75th percentile for weight, so he's not too big or too small....he's just right! Due to the baby's face facing my back, and because he's so squished in there we weren't able to get any good ultrasound pics :(

We met with the doctor and I gained another 2 lbs. this past week putting me at 144 lbs. and a weight gain of 29 lbs. so far. The average pregnancy weight gain is between 25-35 so I am still doing well. My blood pressure was normal at 128/65, and baby's heart rate was excellent at 149 beats per minute. Also, I passed the sugar test this week!! Woo hoo! I have been trying SO hard by satisfying my sweet tooth with apples, low sugar yogurt, and Kashi cereal and it paid off! I go back to the Docs next Wednesday for my 36 week check up!

34 Weeks.....42 days to go!

Bye Bye Cakes and Pies

Today I had my 34 week appointment. Things remain nice and steady as we get towards the end. I gained one pound this past week, putting me at a total weight gain of....27 pounds! My blood pressure is good at 116/64, and baby's heartbeat sounded beautiful! My belly is measuring right on track at 34 cm.
I passed my glucose fasting test, but am still spilling over some sugar so the Doctor said no more cookies, juices, donuts, and treats for me (unless they are under 10g of sugar). Did you know a regular Yoplait yogurt has 27g of sugar, and a glass of apple juice has 30g? Yikes! Today we were supposed to see and measure the baby to see how big he is, but that got rescheduled till next Thursday the 11th!
