Working Hard

Just like Dad working hard in his "office".
Jaxson has been spending a lot of time working hard in his Jumperoo. He loves to bounce and play with all the toys surrounding him. It is so fun to watch him jump and laugh, and figure out all the interactive toys in his reach.

Yummy in my tummy!

Go to fullsize image
Jaxson has started solid foods! This week he has had rice cereal in the mornings, and the past two nights at dinner too. He was showing us he was ready for big boy food by watching us eat, being hungry after feedings, and sitting up so strong. Not to mention the boy weighs 19 pounds. When the spoon "airplane" comes to him he opens his mouth, smacks his lips, and finishes his whole bowl full. Good boy Jaxson! Soon we will be introducing some fruits at meal time too.

4 Months

Jaxson had his 4 month doctor's appointment today.  He tipped the scales at 18 lbs, and is 27 inches long. He is in the 95th percentile for both weight and length.
Jaxson got the green light if we wanted to start some rice cereal and then baby food. However, the doctor and I agreed that since he is doing so well on breast milk alone, and hasn't quite got his upper body strength to sit in a high chair I am going to wait on introducing the cereal for a few more weeks. He doesn't seem to have a weight or sleeping through the night problem =)
Jaxson has been a teething/drooling machine. He is chomping down on anything he can get his little hands onto, and I need to watch what is in his reach. It still might be some time before we see those pearly whites poke through. He has been talking, squealing, and laughing a ton. He enjoys being tickled, read to, and games like Peek-A-Boo, looking at himself in the mirror, and grabbing toys on his play mat.
With only 5 weeks till I go back to work full time Jaxson and I have our work cut out for us in getting ready. We are going to slowly start introducing more feedings with bottles especially during the times that I will be at work. We are also going to work on getting down for naps on his own when he is sleepy, since daycare does not have a fabulous front porch swing to lull him to sleep.
He repeated the same round of shots that he got at his 2 month visit, and took it like a champ only crying for a few seconds and then back to his merry self. We return to the doctors at the end of September for his 6 month check up.
P.S. Tonight Jaxson got a bed time bottle and fell asleep in his crib while I sang the ABC's to him. No rocking, no binkie. It's a miracle especially since I can't sing. Good boy Jaxson, you always make Mommy and Daddy so proud.

Blue Hydrangeas

I just love the blue hydrangeas in our front yard. They remind me of good ol' New England, trips to Nantucket island, summer vacation, and our magical wedding in Cape Cod. Thank goodness I took some pictures of them in full bloom before the heat wave came and fried them when we were on vacation down at the lake house last week.
Jesse and I also received a Fire Hydrangea for our 3 year wedding anniversary that we planted in the front yard. A Fire Hydrangea blooms earlier than the other varieties extending the bloom time, and the blooms change color from white to a rich pinkish-red.

July 3-11 at the Lake

We've just returned back home from a great week at the lake house. Jesse and the Maynard Construction crew have the week of the 4th off for vacation, and good thing they were not working because it was the hottest week of the summer with temps over 100 degrees.  We got to keep cool and relax by the water, go swimming and take boat rides. We spent the mornings sleeping in, and got to enjoy lots of wonderful family time together.
On the 4th of July Jaxson and Auntie Lynsey were being patriotic waving a flag.
Jaxson kept cool by swimming in the kiddie pool with Mom...
and laughed at all his family being silly!
Jaxson saw a few fireworks from the yard, but was fast asleep by the time the boat of pirates went out to enjoy the fireworks show on the lake. On Monday we all rested from having so much 4th of July fun!

On Tuesday Jaxson's girlfriend Giana and her Mommy Kathryn came down to splish splash in the lake to cool down since it was a very uncomfortable 102 degrees.
The babies went swimming in their baby floats, took a nap in the shade...
and went on a boat ride together with their Mommies.
Wednesday we spent a day antiquing and shopping in Putnam, CT and Chepachet, RI.
Jaxson floated and cooled off with Daddy on Thursday followed by going out for ice cream and checking out an antique car show.
Friday Jaxson went shopping with Mommy, Grammy Maynard and Auntie Ashley and found lots of bargains, he is such a good lil shopper.  On Saturday our last day we went to the farmer's market, yard sale shopping, played cards, and sat around the campfire making smores.
What a fantastic week!
