Blue Hydrangeas

I just love the blue hydrangeas in our front yard. They remind me of good ol' New England, trips to Nantucket island, summer vacation, and our magical wedding in Cape Cod. Thank goodness I took some pictures of them in full bloom before the heat wave came and fried them when we were on vacation down at the lake house last week.
Jesse and I also received a Fire Hydrangea for our 3 year wedding anniversary that we planted in the front yard. A Fire Hydrangea blooms earlier than the other varieties extending the bloom time, and the blooms change color from white to a rich pinkish-red.

July 3-11 at the Lake

We've just returned back home from a great week at the lake house. Jesse and the Maynard Construction crew have the week of the 4th off for vacation, and good thing they were not working because it was the hottest week of the summer with temps over 100 degrees.  We got to keep cool and relax by the water, go swimming and take boat rides. We spent the mornings sleeping in, and got to enjoy lots of wonderful family time together.
On the 4th of July Jaxson and Auntie Lynsey were being patriotic waving a flag.
Jaxson kept cool by swimming in the kiddie pool with Mom...
and laughed at all his family being silly!
Jaxson saw a few fireworks from the yard, but was fast asleep by the time the boat of pirates went out to enjoy the fireworks show on the lake. On Monday we all rested from having so much 4th of July fun!

On Tuesday Jaxson's girlfriend Giana and her Mommy Kathryn came down to splish splash in the lake to cool down since it was a very uncomfortable 102 degrees.
The babies went swimming in their baby floats, took a nap in the shade...
and went on a boat ride together with their Mommies.
Wednesday we spent a day antiquing and shopping in Putnam, CT and Chepachet, RI.
Jaxson floated and cooled off with Daddy on Thursday followed by going out for ice cream and checking out an antique car show.
Friday Jaxson went shopping with Mommy, Grammy Maynard and Auntie Ashley and found lots of bargains, he is such a good lil shopper.  On Saturday our last day we went to the farmer's market, yard sale shopping, played cards, and sat around the campfire making smores.
What a fantastic week!

Summertime has begun!

It's officially summertime and Jaxson has been a very busy boy despite the hot and humid weather. We've been very busy playing with Papa Beez, his little girlfriend Giana in the kiddie pool, and going to the lake house on the weekend. Jaxson had a very special visit from his Uncle Derek and got to meet him and spend some time together before he's goes off to Army boot camp and Officer Candidate School on the 13th. We will be thinking of you! xoxo
Jesse and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary on Wednesday the 30th by going out for a sushi dinner date while Papa and Jaxson hung out at home watching the Red Sox. Jaxson also got to wish his Great Grammy and Papa a happy 65th wedding anniversary on the 29th.
Jaxson is so fun to watch grow and develop. He is quite the observer watching everything around him, talking up a storm, laughing and squealing, and moving about. He can roll onto his side but hasn't mastered a full roll to his belly just yet. He is now able to grab toys while laying in his bouncy seat and play mat, and grab objects around him. Jaxson is loosing his baby hair as his second crop of hair comes in and it's looking quite blondie. He is quite the drool machine, and enjoys putting his fingers, toys, and anything else in his mouth. Teeth may be on the way soon...yikes!
Jaxson loves his big boy crib and has adjusted well to the transition and continues to sleep through the night and be entertained by his mobile during the day.
All this play does make him a tired little man. So sometimes we take naps together on our bed in the air conditioner to cool off and rest.
Jaxson is off to the doctor for his 4 month wellness check-up on the 21st, so stay tuned for the big weigh in. I think the lil/big man is close to 18 lbs. Happy 4th of July everyone...be safe!

Just Me and My Dad

Jesse and Jaxson had a wonderful first Father's Day together at the lake house this past weekend. Saturday we spent the morning going to the local farmer's market and then we were off to the pet store to buy koi fish for Grandpa Dan. We spent the afternoon going for a nice long relaxing boat ride around the lake, followed by an evening of hamburgers on the grill by the fire pit. Sunday Jesse got some fishing time in with Uncle Taylor and took Jaxson into the lake for the first time. He didn't love it, but one day I am sure we will not be able to get him out of the water. The afternoon was spent lounging and napping listening to and watching the thunderstorms. It was a wonderful family weekend and of course we didn't want it to end.

Rock A Bye Baby

Jaxson loves to rock and swing. The fresh air, gentle rocking, and sound of nature (lake house) and cars (our house) relaxes him and puts him to sleep. Here are some pictures of Jaxson rocking away.

Such a Big Boy

Go to fullsize image
From day one we knew Jaxson was a fighter and determined. Over the past 3 months he's been growing and developing with leaps and bounds. He is so alert and responsive taking in everything from his surroundings. His playful personality is shining with giggles, squeals, talking, and smiles. He loves to kick, peddle, stand, push, climb, and hold his head looking around. He can lifts both his legs up and turns on his side and is on the verge of rolling over.

Jesse and I know we got our hands full with this lil guy. So it's no wonder that Jaxson would learn to use his strength to turn himself sideways in his Nap Nanny and cradle. It didn't surprise us when he arched his back and pushed himself down out of his bouncy seat. The boy is so clever and inquisitive.
This weekend at 11 weeks Jaxson has graduated from sleeping beside Mom and Dad in his cradle to his big boy crib. The first night he woke up twice but was able get back to sleep from some rocking from Dad and slept 6 straight hours. The second night he slept 8 hours straight. I think he enjoys the freedom, space, and looking at his mobile. Jesse and I enjoy going to get him in the morning when he wakes up to come cuddle and play in our bed with us before we start our day. We are so very proud of you Jaxson you make our hearts smile with pride and joy!
